The Food Service Supervisor role is a full-time position with a 100% FTE schedule (40 hours per week), primarily working Thursday to Monday with variable shifts between 10:30 am - 7:00 pm and 12:30 pm - 8:30 pm. This position is crucial in ensuring smooth operations across various phases of food service, including food preparation, production, and serving within the department. The supervisor oversees employees, ensuring adherence to department policies, regulatory compliance, and high standards of food safety and sanitation.

Key responsibilities include interviewing and hiring employees, training new staff, scheduling work shifts, and ensuring compliance with job descriptions and uniform standards. The supervisor also manages critical operational aspects such as food storage, rotation, temperature control, and labeling, assuring that all food handling processes meet quality standards. They monitor employee performance related to sanitation practices, food safety, and proper use of kitchen equipment, stepping in to correct deviations and maintain a safe, hygienic environment.

This role also involves coordinating with management for routine equipment repairs and training dietetic interns and students. Supervisors must possess strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities to thrive in this dynamic environment. Job Requirements

  • Possession of or eligibility for a food handler's permit
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in large-scale food operations
  • Understanding of personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions

  • Ability to prepare reports and keep records
  • Capability to supervise and train others
  • Ability to follow instructions and exercise good judgment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Correct employee performance to meet standards
  • Requisition routine repairs and report major repair needs
  • Train dietetic interns and students as assigned
