Job Description
Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a well-established nationwide organization dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities, including war-wounded veterans. Founded in 1986, GCE has built a strong reputation as one of the country's largest private employers of persons with disabilities, offering a range of job placements across various sectors such as custodial services, facilities maintenance, food services, and other business lines. The company partners with diverse clients from the U.S. military, commercial businesses, community organizations, and various levels of government, including federal, state, and local agencies. This broad network enables GCE to make a significant impact by promoting inclusive employment and supporting individuals in securing fulfilling careers.
The Supervisor role within GCE's Food Service (FS) division is a critical position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of food service activities. This supervisory role requires a hands-on approach to managing staff and ensuring that all operations comply with established standards and customer expectations. The Supervisor is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining high-quality customer service, ensuring sanitation and medical standards are met, and fostering a team environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside basic computer proficiency, are essential for this role. Additionally, the ability to manage diverse teams, coordinate shift rotations, and interact appropriately with customers and colleagues is crucial. This position demands a flexible schedule, including working various shifts, weekends, holidays, and adapting to changes to meet customer requirements.
Candidates for this position must possess at least one year of experience in food services or a related field and one year of supervisory or team-leading experience. Knowledge of Tri-Service Standards related to sanitation and medical protocols is necessary, along with the capability to understand and execute spoken and written instructions fluently in English. The role also entails physical demands such as bending, crouching, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, as well as working with cleaning chemicals and adhering to emergency operation assignments as per customer guidelines. GCE emphasizes inclusivity and offers reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform job functions effectively.
At GCE, supervisors play a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of food service operations while upholding the company’s mission to provide valued employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The position offers an environment that values dedication, teamwork, and respect for diversity. By joining GCE’s team, supervisors contribute not only to the operational success of the company but also to a larger cause of empowerment and community support. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply through GCE’s online portal and can expect a supportive workplace committed to equal opportunity, drug-free policies, and veteran inclusion.
