Job Description

The hiring establishment for this position is an organization focused on providing high-quality food services within a structured program environment, specifically targeting child and adult care settings. This entity operates two separate kitchen locations and is committed to meeting rigorous health, safety, and nutritional standards in accordance with programs such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), State Licensing, Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, and other related regulatory frameworks. The organization plays a crucial role in ensuring participants receive nutritious meals while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. \n\nThe Food Services Supervisor position is a vital working supervisor role within this establishment, responsible for overseeing daily preparation, service, and storage of food across two kitchens. The role demands a hands-on supervisor who not only manages kitchen staff but also actively participates in food-related duties. This position is integral to maintaining the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and food quality. As the supervisor, the incumbent ensures that all meals are prepared according to approved menus and dietary requirements, serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks that meet CACFP guidelines. This includes strict adherence to recipes, large volume meal preparation, and comprehensive monitoring of meal service documentation and food temperatures to guarantee compliance. \n\nAdditionally, the Food Services Supervisor coordinates inventory management and ordering processes to support uninterrupted services, ensuring that food items are properly labeled, dated, and stored according to health standards. The supervisor enforces stringent sanitation protocols, overseeing the cleaning and sanitization of dishes, equipment, and kitchen areas daily. This role also demands effective communication and collaboration with supervisors and program managers regarding kitchen operations, staffing needs, and compliance issues. The Food Services Supervisor leads the kitchen staff across two locations, providing essential supervision and fostering a team-oriented environment. Participation in in-service training, meetings, and certifications further supports program integrity and professional development. \n\nThis position is suitable for candidates with a high school diploma or GED, preferably with training in CACFP food preparation and nutrition. Experience in institutional food preparation and CACFP-related food service is highly valued. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy items, stand for extended periods, and work in varying conditions. The use of kitchen and cleaning equipment is also an essential aspect of the role. This comprehensive position combines practical food service skills with supervisory responsibilities to ensure the delivery of safe, nutritious meals within compliance-driven settings.
