Job Description

The hiring establishment is a dynamic educational institution that values quality food service as an integral part of its campus environment. The organization is committed to providing nutritious and appealing meals to students and staff, enhancing the overall school experience through healthy eating habits. Recognized for its dedication to maintaining high standards in food production, sanitation, and safety practices, the institution operates within a framework that upholds health regulations and promotes a culture of teamwork and respect among its food service personnel. This establishment primarily functions as a school-based food service provider, serving multiple campuses with well-organized meal programs designed to meet the nutritional needs of the community it supports.

The position of Food Service Attendant, offered on a part-time basis at 25 hours per week, is a pivotal role within this food service team. Classified as an hourly, non-exempt position with a competitive wage of $15 per hour, the Food Service Attendant is entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities centered around food preparation, serving, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas. This role reports directly to the Food Service Manager, Child Nutrition Program (CNP) District Staff, and Campus Principal, ensuring a structured and supportive work environment.

The mission of the Food Service Attendant is to support all food service activities at assigned campuses, focusing on preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel while maintaining exceptional quality standards. This includes adhering to tested recipes, portion control, proper use of leftovers, and consistently following sanitation and safety protocols to create a safe and hygienic dining environment. Food Service Attendants must demonstrate proficiency in operating both large and small kitchen equipment and tools, ensuring efficient food production and adherence to health department requirements.

This role also involves cashier functions, inventory management, and record-keeping related to food requisitions and daily preparation logs. Food Service Attendants must be flexible and willing to rotate through multiple workstations within the kitchen to support the smooth operation of meal service. Participation in ongoing Food Service Worker Training for certification is mandatory, reinforcing the institution's commitment to professional development and compliance with food safety standards.

Physically, the position demands the ability to stand, walk, push, pull, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb for considerable periods throughout the workday. Employees are regularly required to lift and carry loads ranging from 10 to 40 pounds and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with varied exposure to temperature extremes. Maintaining personal hygiene and appearance, demonstrating punctuality, confidentiality, and a cooperative attitude with fellow staff members further contribute to the successful fulfillment of this role.

Beyond operational duties, Food Service Attendants play an essential part in fostering a positive charter and community atmosphere. They are encouraged to actively engage in community involvement efforts, support the charter's mission, promote fairness among students and staff, and participate in student recruitment activities. By embodying the institution's values and culture, Food Service Attendants help to create a supportive and inclusive environment conducive to learning and student success.
