The Food Service Manager position at the Forsyth County Jail offers an important role within this well-established food service organization. This position is responsible for overseeing daily food production operations in a secure correctional facility, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant meal services for the incarcerated population. The role requires managing large-scale kitchen operations and supervising both staff and incarcerated workers. Maintaining stringent food safety and security standards is critical, as is controlling inventory and managing costs effectively. The manager also ensures that menus meet all necessary nutritional requirements and that all food service activities align closely with facility guidelines as well as state and federal laws.
As a Food Service Manager, you will lead by using Aramark's coaching model to engage and develop team members, reward and recognize employees, and ensure that individual and team performance meets both company and client expectations. Your leadership will include planning and conducting daily briefings, ensuring the highest standards of safety and sanitation, and fostering strong client relationships by identifying needs and effectively communicating operational progress.
Financial performance is a key component of the role. You will be responsible for completing and maintaining profit and loss statements, delivering both client and company financial targets, and adopting Aramark's processes and systems to understand performance metrics and order and inventory trends. This knowledge will be vital in educating your team about the drivers of improved margins and profitability.
Overall productivity and operational excellence are expected outcomes in this role. Through efficient operations, proper cost controls, and active profit management, you will ensure that food and labor initiatives are met and maintained. Supervising production, maintaining quality, and enforcing control standards will be part of your everyday duties.
Compliance is a must; maintaining a safe and healthy environment for clients, employees, and customers is non-negotiable. You will ensure that all applicable policies and regulations related to safety, health, and wage and hour laws are consistently followed. Additional responsibilities include leading the front of the house dining operation in partnership with the Food Service Director and coordinating activities to provide a finished product that meets customer expectations.

Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in food service
- At least 1 year in a management role
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to manage budgets and inventories
- Understanding of applicable policies, rules and regulations including safety, health, wage and hour laws
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
