Job Requirements

  • Per state classified civil service requirements
  • 600 hours training in operation of kitchen equipment or 6 months experience
  • 600 hours training in food preparation or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in supervision or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in food management or 6 months experience
  • 1 course in budgeting or 1 month experience
  • 1 course in bookkeeping or 1 month experience

Job Qualifications

  • Education equivalent to classified civil service standards
  • 600 hours training or 6 months experience in operation of kitchen equipment
  • 600 hours training or 6 months experience in food preparation
  • 6 courses or 6 months experience in supervision
  • 6 courses or 6 months experience in food management
  • 1 course or 1 month experience in budgeting
  • 1 course or 1 month experience in bookkeeping
  • 1 to 3 years management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and direct daily operations in assigned nutrition services areas
  • supervise, coordinate, and participate in activities of nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel
  • initiate partnerships and collaborate with other departments to enhance service delivery
  • lead and train service staff in patient care and retail cafes on quality standards and operational procedures
  • enforce food quality and safety standards and sanitation plans
  • requisition food and related products to maintain inventory and service needs
  • manage frontline operations including labor redistribution to maximize shift efficiency
