The Food Service Team Lead plays a crucial part in managing the daily food business at a specific store location, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food items quickly and efficiently. The role involves supporting the Store Manager or Brand Manager by guiding team members on proper food safety measures, food presentation, and maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

The Food Service Team Lead is responsible for overseeing food stock management, controlling food costs and waste, and ensuring all prepared food and beverages meet company standards for quality and safety. They actively engage with guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, contributing to an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat business. This role also involves training and coaching team members, providing constructive feedback, and collaborating with third-party vendors to uphold food safety protocols.

Working hours for this role include both part-time and full-time schedules, with the possibility of shifts during day and night as Cumberland Farms locations may operate 24 hours. Weekend and holiday work is required, making flexibility a key attribute for candidates. The position demands physical activity such as standing, walking, lifting, and maneuvering various food items and equipment, often in cooler temperature environments.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months retail or food experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand or walk for 8 hours a day
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds occasionally
  • Comfortable talking and interacting with guests and team members
  • Team oriented and willing to help others
  • Serv Safe Certified a plus but not mandatory

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred 1 year experience in retail, service, or restaurant environment
  • Ability to provide training and feedback to team members
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage food safety standards
  • Comfortable interacting with guests and team members
  • High energy and team-oriented mindset

Job Duties

  • Greet all guests in a friendly manner to make them feel welcomed and appreciated
  • Manage food stock levels, food costs and waste, preparation, presentation, and food safety requirements for hot and cold prepared food and beverage items
  • Oversee the food service area's cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Meet Company goals for food sales including pizza, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, etc.
  • Provide training, feedback, coaching and direction to fellow team members on food preparation and food safety requirements
  • Maintain relationship with third party vendors on food safety measures, monitoring and training on proper temperatures, holding times and waste processes
  • Maintain proper stock levels, ordering and rotation of all food product for sandwich cases, warmers, pizza, chili, condiments and pastry cases
  • Process guest transactions efficiently and in a friendly manner to minimize wait time
  • Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Store Manager or Guest Service Leader
