Job Description

Our hiring organization is a large healthcare facility known for its commitment to delivering excellent patient care and supporting a healing environment. The facility operates multiple food service areas that cater not only to patients but also to staff, visitors, and special events. The organization employs a structured food service team that works diligently to ensure safe food handling, efficient service, and high-quality meal production in accordance with strict health and safety regulations. With a focus on both nutrition and customer satisfaction, the facility continuously seeks dedicated professionals to join its food service department and contribute to this mission.

The available role is that of a Food Service Supervisor within this healthcare setting. This is a pivotal position that involves managing day-to-day food service operations including food preparation, staff direction, and quality control. The supervisor acts as a primary resource and support for both employees and customers, including patients. In addition to overseeing staffing levels and workflow, this role includes responsibility for training and orienting team members, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation standards, and monitoring overall department productivity. The Food Service Supervisor must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to address equipment malfunctions, customer concerns, and staffing challenges promptly.

As part of the supervisory responsibilities, the individual will assist with human resources duties such as interviewing, staff development, conflict resolution, and morale enhancement. This position requires excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with nursing personnel and other healthcare staff, reinforcing the culture of healing maintained throughout the facility. Further duties involve forecasting food needs for patients, cafeterias, and special functions, maintaining accurate records of meal census and food usage, and ensuring that all operations comply with nutrition guidelines, food/drug interaction awareness, and allergy considerations. The role requires proficiency in handling purchasing requests, managing tray lines, and adjusting employee schedules strategically.

Candidates must be prepared to work in a physically demanding environment, regularly standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting weight up to 40 pounds. They must also follow strict safety protocols while operating kitchen and cleaning equipment. Furthermore, the supervisor may be required to enter patient isolation rooms safely clothed, reinforcing infection prevention measures.

The position is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma and at least three years of experience in food preparation and service within large hospitals or hospitality environments. Certification such as the ServSafe Food Handler certificate is required to be obtained within one year of employment. The role typically demands strong organizational skills, intermediate computer proficiency for inventory and communication tasks, and a personal dedication to maintaining a positive and customer-focused workplace.
