Job Description

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, widely known as "the Exchange," is a premier retailer serving US Army and Air Force installations worldwide. As an $8 billion enterprise, the Exchange is ranked among the top retailers in the nation and operates a diverse portfolio of retail outlets including department stores, convenience stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and an extensive internet shopping site. The Exchange’s primary mission is to ensure that Soldiers, Airmen, and their families stationed across the globe—including in countries such as Germany, Italy, England, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Iraq, and Afghanistan—have access to quality US goods and services, providing a taste of home no matter where their service takes them.

The organization operates with a strong focus on serving those who serve the country, aiming to deliver not just products but extraordinary customer experiences. With a significant presence on military installations, the Exchange is deeply embedded in the military community and committed to supporting the morale, welfare, and quality of life for service members and their families.

The Food Service Foreman role at the Exchange is a critical leadership position designed for individuals who are passionate about food service and customer satisfaction. As a Food Service Foreman, you will be leading a dedicated team of Food Service Workers who are committed to exceeding customer expectations through exceptional service and engagement. Your responsibilities will include planning and executing daily and weekly workloads to meet both department and store sales goals while prioritizing customer experience in every interaction.

You will create staffing schedules that align with business demands and customer needs, fostering a culture of accountability and clear expectations within your team. Leading by example, you will manage performance and encourage a focus on critical service and engagement behaviors. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, particularly in responding to and deescalating negative customer experiences to ensure customer satisfaction is promptly restored.

In addition to supervising food preparation and service, you will be responsible for overseeing inventory management, quality control of food supplies, and maintaining operational reports. Your role includes ensuring compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations, as well as cash and asset security.

The Exchange offers flexible scheduling options and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, shift differential, holiday pay, traditional pension, and a 401K plan for qualifying associates. Moreover, employees enjoy access to base facilities, mass transit programs, and the unique opportunity to be part of a Department of Defense-affiliated organization.

By joining the Exchange as a Food Service Foreman, you become part of a supportive team focused not only on operational excellence but also on employee growth and development. The Exchange promotes a positive, customer-centric culture and invests in providing associates with the tools and training to succeed. This is more than just a job; it is a chance to contribute meaningfully to the military community and advance your career within a respected and stable organization.
