The University of Mississippi Medical Center is partnering with Aramark Healthcare to enhance its food service operations through the recruitment of a Food Service Director. This management role is integral to developing and executing customized dining solutions that cater to the preferences and needs of diverse clientele within the medical center. The Food Service Director position reports directly to the District Manager, ensuring alignment with broader operational strategies and corporate goals. The successful candidate will oversee dining operations where customers order prepared foods from a thoughtfully curated menu, ensuring both quality and efficiency in service delivery.
In this role, the Food Service Director takes on the pivotal responsibility of leading, mentoring, and developing their teams to maximize employee contributions and enhance operational performance. The role requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic healthcare food service environment, skilled in recruiting, training, and managing staff performance, while fostering a culture of safety and sanitation that complies with all regulatory standards. Financial management is a critical component of this leadership position, requiring expertise in budget management, cost control concerning food, beverage, and labor expenses, and the ability to interpret and maintain profit and loss statements. The Food Service Director will also be tasked with implementing efficient operational strategies, ensuring productive labor and food initiatives in accordance with the company’s Operational Excellence fundamentals.
Furthermore, the Director will oversee the front of house dining operations, manage inventory, coordinate personnel activities related to production, quality control, merchandising, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols. The role also involves proactive engagement in sales processes, contract negotiation, and seeking innovative opportunities to enhance product and service offerings supporting sales growth and client retention.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 8-10 years of experience in food service
- 1-3 years of management experience
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain client and customer relationships
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Ability to collaborate with other departments
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb
- Ability to stand for long periods
Job Qualifications
- At least 8-10 years of experience
- Healthcare experience preferred especially in hospital or patient services environments
- 1-3 years in a management role
- Previous experience in food service
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective client and customer rapport
- Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service using Aramark’s model
- Ability to maintain working relationships with other departments
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lb
- Ability to stand for extended periods
Job Duties
- Lead, mentor, engage and develop teams to maximize contributions including recruiting, assessing, training, coaching and managing performance
- Ensure food services connect to the Executional Framework

- Identify client needs and communicate operational progress

- Build revenue and manage budget including cost controls regarding food, beverage and labor
- Complete and maintain profit and loss statements
- Achieve food and labor targets
- Implement Aramark agenda for labor and food initiatives
- Direct and oversee production, distribution and food service operations
- Maintain safe and healthy environment complying with safety, health, wage and hour regulations
- Establish systems and procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving food
- Develop operational forecasts and explain variances
- Ensure sanitation and safety levels are met
- Coordinate and supervise unit personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control
- Recruit, hire, develop and retain frontline teams
- Conduct periodic inventory
- Maintain records complying with Aramark and regulatory standards
- Interact with client management for effective relations
- Participate in sales process and contract negotiation
- Identify opportunities to implement new products and services
