Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Previous experience in grocery retail food service preferred
- Ability to maintain highest level of customer service
- Capacity to take initiative and adapt in fast-paced retail environment
- Advanced attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Basic math knowledge including weights and measures
- Familiarity with health department regulations
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, and reaching
- Ability to work varied hours and days including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency degree
- Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in food service department processes and procedures
- Previous experience in natural foods industry is a plus
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Knowledge of health department guidelines and food safety regulations
- Ability to operate food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work varied schedules and adapt to high volume retail environments
Job Duties
- Ensures cleanliness of deli/bakery cases, storage area, and work area for safety
- Stocks deli/bakery cases including product presentation, facing, filling, and organization
- Examines the rotation of deli/bakery products and discards outdated or spoiled items
- Responds to customers' inquiries and assists with purchasing and product selection, including selling and cross-selling
- Receives, inspects, and logs product shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality
- Prepares various deli/bakery items using appropriate ingredients and cooking times
- Uses equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
- Maintains high product knowledge and participates in inventory preparation
- Walks the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
