Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree
  • Previous experience in grocery retail food service preferred
  • Ability to maintain highest level of customer service
  • Capacity to take initiative and adapt in fast-paced retail environment
  • Advanced attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Basic math knowledge including weights and measures
  • Familiarity with health department regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, and reaching
  • Ability to work varied hours and days including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree
  • Preferred 1-2 years grocery retail experience in food service department processes and procedures
  • Previous experience in natural foods industry is a plus
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Knowledge of health department guidelines and food safety regulations
  • Ability to operate food service equipment such as knives, slicers, scales, and ovens
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work varied schedules and adapt to high volume retail environments

Job Duties

  • Ensures cleanliness of deli/bakery cases, storage area, and work area for safety
  • Stocks deli/bakery cases including product presentation, facing, filling, and organization
  • Examines the rotation of deli/bakery products and discards outdated or spoiled items
  • Responds to customers' inquiries and assists with purchasing and product selection, including selling and cross-selling
  • Receives, inspects, and logs product shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality
  • Prepares various deli/bakery items using appropriate ingredients and cooking times
  • Uses equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Maintains high product knowledge and participates in inventory preparation
  • Walks the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned
