This role supports sick calls, earned time off, and other caregiver absences, making it a key player in delivering seamless food service operations.

The Food Service Attendant's daily work is diverse and engaging. Tasks may include preparing food products and beverages while adhering to safe food handling guidelines, operating espresso machines, providing excellent customer service, and supporting catering events as a server or bartender. Delivering patient meals involves ensuring correct tray assembly according to dietary orders, confirming patient identity with safety checks, and adhering to isolation precautions when necessary. The attendant also plays an essential role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils, following strict health and safety standards such as the Oregon Food Sanitation and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.

This position offers a competitive variable pay range of $19.81 to $24.76 per hour and requires a commitment to upholding the organizational vision, mission, and values. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Ability to stand and walk for 75 percent or more of the time
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 1 to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate espresso machines and related equipment
  • Previous cash handling and customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Must comply with all food sanitation and safety standards
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Effective communication skills to interact with diverse populations
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions and work under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Deschutes County Food Handlers Card required
  • OLCC Alcohol Service Permit preferred
  • ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
  • Previous experience in food service, barista work, or customer service preferred
  • Experience with cash handling preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills including email and MS Office
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and patient safety protocols

Job Duties

  • Prepares food products and beverages in accordance with safe food handling guidelines
  • Operates espresso machine and prepares hot beverages
  • Provides excellent customer service and product recommendations
  • Stocks and maintains cleanliness of café and deli areas
  • Performs light cooking and assists with catering events as server, bartender, or dishwasher
  • Assembles and delivers patient meal trays ensuring accuracy and safety
  • Cleans dishes, kitchen equipment, and work areas following sanitation standards
  • Sorts and removes trash and maintains clean kitchen environment
  • Supports other food service areas as needed
  • Complies with all safety, confidentiality, and organizational policies
