The Food Service Associate and Driver position at ElderOne located on 2066 Hudson Avenue in Rochester, NY, is a part-time role with a weekly commitment of 20 hours, scheduled Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This unique dual-purpose position integrates responsibilities across food service support and driving duties to facilitate the distribution of food and supplements throughout the community. Individuals in this role will engage in meal preparation and service aligned with dietary specifications while maintaining strict adherence to food safety standards and organizational policies. They will also be responsible for the delivery of nutritional supplements and other items to community members, ensuring safe vehicle operation and compliance with all safety regulations.

This role offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.50 to $18.20, reflecting factors such as experience and qualifications. The Food Service Associate and Driver must demonstrate strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment. An essential aspect of the job also includes maintaining order and cleanliness in food preparation and service areas, managing inventory in storage spaces, and occasionally handling cash transactions. This position requires physical stamina due to medium work demands including lifting and frequent walking or standing. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid New York State driver’s license and obtain a Food Safety Certification accredited by the American National Standards Institute within three months of hire.

Job Requirements

  • Valid NYS driver’s license required
  • Food Safety Certification (ServSafe, NRFSP) accredited by ANSI within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds frequently
  • Frequent walking, standing or squatting required

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation preferred
  • Previous food service experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Experience interacting with frail or elderly populations preferred
  • None required

Job Duties

  • Assemble meals or nourishments according to menu and diet specifications using proper food handling practices
  • Perform duties in dish room or designated cleaning areas
  • Deliver food carts to and from units while maintaining customer relations
  • Deliver and fill supplies accurately to units
  • Maintain organization of coolers, freezers, and dry storage for inventory control
  • Maintain safe, sanitary, and orderly work areas demonstrating proper equipment use and sanitation techniques
  • Replenish work stations and supplies for the next meal or shift
  • Operate food service equipment safely using personal protective equipment
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Represent Food and Nutrition Services professionally through hygiene and uniform
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the department
  • Handle cash and register as needed
  • Float to other sites as required for staffing coverage
  • Deliver supplements and necessary items to community participants
  • Drive company vehicle safely
  • Comply with safety regulations
