Employing approximately 155,000 teammates across 69 hospitals and more than 1,000 care locations, Advocate Health also runs one of the largest graduate medical education programs in the nation with over 2,000 residents and fellows in more than 200 programs. The organization is deeply committed to delivering equitable healthcare and invests over six billion dollars annually in community benefits.

Additional responsibilities involve using proper sanitation methods to clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, washing pots, pans, and dishes, and assisting in the preparation, delivery, setup, cleanup, and presentation of catered events and special promotions. The role requires preparing snacks, beverages, sandwiches, and other patient food items according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines while focusing on food garnishing and presentation. The worker is also responsible for replenishing food service areas and supplies in retail and kitchen spaces, as well as delivering and stocking nursing units, doctors' lounges, surgical, and emergency rooms.

The position demands strict compliance with food safety protocols including monitoring food temperatures and employing safe handling practices to prevent foodborne illness. Physical requirements include the ability to operate food service equipment, stand, walk, reach, squat, bend, twist, kneel, climb, and lift or carry up to 40 pounds safely. The role may expose the worker to various environmental factors such as fumes, odors, dust, and kitchen hazards, and requires use of protective clothing when necessary.
