Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience or training
  • Valid Food Handler's Permit as required by state and county
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to attend required in-service and safety meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience or training
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations using American money, weight, volume, and distance measurements
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions
  • Food Handler's Permit as required by applicable state and county

Job Duties

  • Prepare high quality food items according to standardized recipes or instructions
  • Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning and temperature standards
  • Taste all food items prepared to ensure quality
  • Use established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards
  • Store or discard excess food properly per safe food handling procedures
  • Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat with proper food and supply storage
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Assist in ordering and receiving of food and supplies
  • Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents immediately
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings as required
  • Maintain good working relationships with co-workers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Perform job safely while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform other functions and duties as assigned
