Food Service Aide III- Cook Full Time Days

Job Overview

Job Description

This position is within a healthcare facility, specifically responsible for preparing and serving food to patients, staff, and visitors through various channels such as the patient trayline, cafeteria service, and special functions. The hiring organization is dedicated to providing excellent nutritional service in a safe and sanitary environment, emphasizing quality, efficiency, and teamwork. This is a non-supervisory role reporting directly to the Food Service Supervisor, focused primarily on hands-on food preparation and service.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and welcomes candidates with previous cooking experience, though it is preferred rather than mandatory. The individual must have good communication skills and the ability to read, write, and follow recipes accurately. Fiscal responsibility and good follow-through skills are essential to maintain the quality and consistency expected in a healthcare setting where dietary requirements and hygiene standards are critical.

The chosen candidate will engage actively in preparing food quickly, efficiently, and accurately while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP guidelines. Maintaining cleanliness, correct handling, and storage of food items and dishes are integral responsibilities. The employee will also contribute to ensuring the punctuality of trayline and cafeteria services to align with operational schedules.

This role demands physical capability to manage medium lifting tasks, repetitive motions, and standing for long periods. Employees should be prepared for occasional heavy lifting in emergency situations and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and walking frequently.

Teamwork is a critical component of the position, as the cook will collaborate with other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth workflow. The individual must be willing to assist coworkers, share essential communications about operational needs, and accept additional assignments as required. Maintaining accurate inventory records and using hospital resources responsibly with a focus on time management are also emphasized.

The facility prioritizes a culture where employees make a difference every day by providing direct nutritional support to patients. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment focused on health, nutrition, and customer service and who is eager to be part of a team dedicated to quality food service in a medical setting.
