Job Description

Friendship Village is a respected Life Plan Community situated in St. Louis, dedicated to providing exceptional senior living experiences to its residents. It prides itself on a supportive and compassionate environment catered specifically to active and engaged senior adults. With a commitment to high-quality care and community-building, Friendship Village offers a range of services and amenities that promote wellbeing, social engagement, and independence among its residents. The organization’s mission is to create a welcoming and nurturing environment that encourages growth, health, and happiness through every phase of life. The team at Friendship Village is composed of caring and dedicated professionals who work harmoniously to foster a warm and friendly community atmosphere. Joining this team means being part of a thriving, goal-oriented community where professional growth is encouraged and a positive work environment is a priority.

The role available is that of a Food Server within the assisted living nursing facility at Friendship Village. This part-time position offers approximately 25-30 hours per week, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking flexible hours, including those suitable for after school. Working in this position means playing a pivotal role in the day-to-day dining services for seniors, ensuring that each resident receives courteous, attentive, and personalized service. The Food Server is responsible for setting tables, maintaining cleanliness, taking meal orders, and providing food and therapeutic desserts or salads as requested. This role also involves transporting food and necessary items between different parts of the facility, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards, and contributing to an overall pleasant dining experience.

The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude toward customer service and show genuine interest in geriatric care. They should excel in building and maintaining relationships with residents and fellow staff and demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm in fulfilling facility goals. While prior experience in waiting tables in a fine dining environment is preferred, it is not mandatory since on-the-job training is available. Successful candidates will be able to work well cooperatively with others, exhibit tact and grace in customer interactions, and have a fundamental understanding of hospitality principles and customer service. The role also requires mandatory weekend and holiday work with consistent hours ending no later than 8 pm. Friendship Village offers a positive and upbeat work environment, competitive pay, career advancement opportunities, and an innovative pay system allowing employees to access wages on demand. Individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact in a senior living community will find this Food Server role both rewarding and professionally satisfying.
