Job Description

The Food Server position at Fredericka Manor Retirement Community is a part-time role offering approximately 24 hours of work per week, including varied day shifts and weekend lunch and/or dinner shifts. The pay range for this role is competitive, between $19.00 and $21.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the server’s contribution towards dining excellence and resident satisfaction. The server works under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager and serves a critical role in creating memorable dining experiences for residents and their guests. This role requires not just good food service skills but also warm and positive guest interaction to ensure a welcoming and comfortable dining environment.

Candidates in this position must have some basic food knowledge and excellent customer service abilities, enabling them to assist residents effectively, suggest menu items, help with drink selections, and communicate specific guest needs to kitchen staff. They perform key tasks such as preparing tables, maintaining cleanliness and order, ensuring proper dining experience, and even filling in for absent staff or assisting with special events as needed. The role emphasizes attentiveness to guests’ needs and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational procedures.

As a part of the team, the Food Server must comply with all federal, state, and corporate policies and health codes. The server is also expected to participate in safety programs, attend mandatory in-service meetings, and be prepared to respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with facility guidelines. Job Duties

  • Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction
  • Prepares the tables, laying out napkins and utensils, making sure the condiments are refilled, performing all other preparation tasks
  • Stays updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items
  • Directs guests to their tables, presents menus, suggests dishes, assists in drink selection, informs guests about food preparation details, communicates specific guest needs to the cooks
  • Maintains proper dining experience, delivers items, fulfills guest needs, offers desserts and drinks, removes courses, replenishes utensils, refills glasses
  • Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor
  • Fills in for absent staff as needed
  • Assists with special events as needed
  • Greets all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting
  • Follows highest standards of cleanliness
  • Follows all federal, state and corporate policies, health codes and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Wears safety equipment as required for the job
  • Reports any safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor
  • Follows department safety standards, practices correct body mechanic techniques and participates in campus-wide safety programs
