Job Description
The Westerner, located in West Valley City, UT, is a renowned country dance hall, bar, and grill with a rich history dating back to 1962. As Salt Lake City's original country dance venue, The Westerner has become a local landmark, famous for its lively atmosphere, live music from well-known artists like Brad Paisley, George Jones, Rascal Flatts, and The Dixie Chicks, and various entertainment options that create memorable experiences for guests. The venue offers a unique blend of food, music, and entertainment including mechanical bull rides, pool tables, line dance and couple dance lessons, a dedicated karaoke room, and more. This multifunctional design not only caters to patrons seeking an enjoyable night out but also creates a dynamic and engaging environment for employees.
The Westerner prides itself on fostering a welcoming, fun, and safe setting for both customers and staff. The company values its employees highly, encouraging innovation and involvement while promoting personal and professional growth. By empowering team members through education and skill development, The Westerner ensures that every individual has the opportunity to thrive within the team and beyond. This commitment to employee success contributes to a supportive work culture where respect and open communication are prioritized.
Currently, The Westerner is looking to hire part-time Food Servers who possess a positive and energetic personality, excellent communication skills, and a customer service-oriented mindset. This role is crucial to maintaining the high standards of service expected by the venue's clientele. Food Servers play a direct role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by accurately running food orders from the kitchen, anticipating guest needs, and supporting other team members as needed. The position typically requires availability on Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00 pm to 2:30 am.
The Food Server role is not only about delivering food but also about being the face of The Westerner's hospitality. Employees in this position are expected to show reliability by arriving on time and consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic. A background in food service or hospitality helps, but most importantly, servers must bring a team spirit and willingness to learn. Occasionally, Food Servers might fill in as cooks or assist bartenders and other servers to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment.
To summarize, joining The Westerner means becoming part of a historic and vibrant venue that values its employees’ contributions, offers competitive pay at $18 per hour for part-time Food Servers, and fosters a supportive and exciting work environment. Applicants who are at least 21 years old and can acquire the necessary Utah alcohol server permit and Salt Lake County Health Department food handler’s permit within 14 days of hire are encouraged to apply. If you want to work in a lively setting where your energy and dedication will help create unforgettable nights for guests, The Westerner in West Valley City is the place to be.
