The Beeman Hotel is a distinctive boutique hotel located in the heart of Dallas' Park Cities neighborhood, known for its eclectic charm and modern hospitality. Within this vibrant setting, The Beeman Hotel offers a Food Runner/Barback position that plays a significant role in maintaining the overall guest experience at two of its notable dining venues: Verse and The Raven. This role is essential in ensuring that all common areas, dining rooms, restrooms, and service stations remain clean, stocked, and visually appealing while adhering to the highest standards of sanitation and guest service. The position reports directly to the Restaurant Manager and is classified as non-exempt, highlighting its operational responsibilities in a dynamic food and beverage environment. The Food Runner/Barback must be dedicated, efficient, and proactive, consistently upholding the hotel's commitment to quality and hospitality.

The role requires attention to detail and a strong understanding of restaurant cleanliness, organization, and guest interaction. Key responsibilities include the upkeep of restaurant and bar cleanliness, spot cleaning various areas from drink stations to floors, managing trash disposal, and ensuring the availability of service essentials like silverware, linens, and condiments. The Food Runner/Barback also plays a crucial role in guest service by clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables promptly and properly, transporting dirty dishware efficiently, and maintaining an attractive and orderly dining environment. Exceptional communication skills and teamwork are vital, as the position requires quick responses to guest service issues and close coordination with team members and management to resolve problems professionally.

Physical endurance is important for this position, as it demands walking and standing for extended periods and the ability to lift and carry trays and other items weighing up to 40 pounds. The candidate must hold valid TABC and Food Handlers licenses, demonstrating a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Job Requirements

  • Must have valid TABC and Food Handlers license
  • Ability to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour shift
  • Ability to lift push pull and move up to 40 pounds
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays
  • Must wear closed toe non-canvas and non-skid soled shoes
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and attendance
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain professionalism
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations and ordering procedures

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in a food and beverage or hospitality environment is advantageous
  • Possession of a valid Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) license
  • Possession of a Food Handlers license
  • Familiarity with basic sanitation and food safety procedures
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards

Job Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness of restaurant and bar ensuring a welcoming environment for guests
  • Spot clean drink stations chairs table bases doors walls baseboards and other surfaces as needed
  • Maintain the stock and cleanliness of stations during all meal periods ensuring availability of silverware linens and condiments
  • Clean entrance door glass and tracks
  • Spot clean all spills
  • Dust and damp mop floors keeping them free of debris
  • Empty trash receptacles replace liners and transport trash to the dumpster
  • Wipe down trash stations
  • Sweep mop clean bar area and food running line
  • Clear clean and reset tables with proper service wares ensuring readiness for the next guest
  • Transport dirty tableware from the dining area to the dish drop area sorting it accordingly
  • Wipe down booths and chairs moving furniture and cleaning floors as necessary
  • Ensure dining rooms waiting areas and service areas are clean organized and visually appealing
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest service issues reporting them to the appropriate Supervisor or Manager on Duty
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment
  • Conduct oneself professionally maintaining an awareness that all actions and communications may be observed by guests
  • Assist with any additional tasks or responsibilities assigned by the Manager
  • Maintain an acceptable appearance for assigned station and surrounding areas
