The Food Runner role at TradeWinds is an exciting opportunity to enter the restaurant industry and develop hands-on experience in delivering outstanding dining service. This hourly position involves supporting servers by efficiently delivering food orders from the kitchen to tables, facilitating clear communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams, and ensuring food safety and presentation standards are met. Working as a Food Runner, you will be part of a team committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation while contributing to the smooth and timely delivery of food orders during various shifts, including weekends. You will gain valuable insights into the operational and customer service aspects of a busy resort restaurant, making this role ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and eager to grow their careers in the food and beverage sector. The position requires physical stamina and a keen eye for detail, as well as a proactive, friendly demeanor that enhances guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Availability to work various shifts including weekends
  • Physical stamina and strength
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Experience as a food expeditor or similar entry-level role in a restaurant
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours
  • Availability to work various shifts including weekends
  • Multi-tasking abilities
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment

Job Duties

  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables rapidly and accurately
  • Act as the point of contact between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
  • Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities such as food allergies
  • Assist the wait staff with table setting by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, and napkins
  • Serve welcome drinks and hors d'oeuvres upon guests' arrival
  • Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards such as proper temperature
  • Check in with customers and take additional orders or refill water as needed
  • Remove dirty dishes and utensils
  • Answer guests' questions about ingredients and menu items
  • Inform restaurant staff about customers' feedback or requests such as when they ask for the check
