Auberge du Soleil is currently seeking to hire a Food Runner, a vital role within the vibrant hospitality team. This role requires an individual who is energetic, precise, and dedicated to enhancing the guests' dining experience by ensuring the seamless delivery of food orders from the kitchen to the guests' tables. The Food Runner acts as a critical link between the kitchen and the dining room, responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of dishes, paying close attention to detail such as adding garnishes and ensuring the presentation of each dish meets the resort's high standards.
Besides handling food delivery, the Food Runner assists servers, bartenders, and guests throughout the meal, ensuring that any additional requests or needs are met swiftly and with a high degree of professionalism. This role also includes tasks such as maintaining cleanliness and organization within the expediting area and restaurant outlets, operating and cleaning restaurant equipment, and ensuring food safety standards are strictly followed, particularly regarding temperature control.
The position requires flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays to meet the department's demands. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in customer service or similar hospitality role preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to obtain Responsible Beverage Service Certification within 60 days of hire
- Ability to obtain Food Handler's Certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods and carry trays or plates
- Positive attitude and commitment to excellent guest service
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience in customer service or a similar role in a luxury setting is preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to department needs
- Ability to communicate in English
- Responsible Beverage Service Certification (can be obtained within 60 days of hire)
- Food Handler's Certification (can be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Job Duties
- Ensure that all orders are completed accurately, in time, and with the correct priority
- Perform the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges
- Assist servers, bartenders, and guests in the dining experience, taking orders and delivering requested items in an efficient and timely manner
- Relate with guests about needs, satisfaction with the beverage and drinks, ensuring a consistently caring and high-quality service
- Operate, maintain and properly clean all restaurant equipment and fittings
- Ensure that the expediting area and restaurant outlets are tidy, organized, and well stocked at all times
- Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
- Check in with guests upon delivery of dishes and ensure they have everything they need, as needed
