Job Description
This hiring establishment is a distinguished dining facility that prides itself on delivering exceptional food service experiences to all guests. It typically operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring a high level of dedication and attention to detail from all staff. As a restaurant or club dining service environment, it ensures the highest quality of culinary presentation and customer satisfaction. The atmosphere is one where teamwork, customer interaction, and operational efficiency align to create memorable dining experiences for every visitor. Employees here are expected to uphold the mission and values of the establishment by delivering courteous, prompt, and accurate service consistently. This ensures that every guest leaves with a positive impression and eagerness to return.
The role available is for a Food Runner, a position crucial to the smooth operation of the restaurant's food service flow. The Food Runner acts as the essential link between the kitchen and the dining room, efficiently transporting food orders and ensuring each course is delivered in a timely manner. This position demands a reliable, organized, and customer-focused individual who can handle multiple tasks with composure, all while maintaining the quality and integrity of the dishes served. The Food Runner assists the servers by gathering completed meals in the correct sequence—appetizers, soups or salads, entrees, and desserts—and ensuring that they reach the appropriate tables promptly. This role enhances the dining experience by keeping food at optimal temperatures and coordinating closely with servers and kitchen staff. In addition, the Food Runner must be attentive to details such as checking condiments and table setups, responding to banquet service needs, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the service area.
Day-to-day responsibilities involve reading ticket orders, assembling trays with hot and cold dishes carefully arranged, and making sure the entire table's order is delivered completely during each sequence of the meal. This requires good communication skills to coordinate with servers about timing and specific delivery instructions. The job also includes housekeeping tasks like polishing silverware, resetting tables, and assisting with banquet setups and breakdowns. Since the Food Runner is integral to providing top-quality service, the expectation is to approach this role with a positive attitude, alignment with the establishment’s mission, and readiness to participate in training and team meetings.
Given the physical demands of the job, the Food Runner must have the capacity to stand for prolonged periods, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds when necessary. The role also requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime where needed. This job is ideal for individuals who enjoy active work environments, have excellent organizational skills, and possess a passion for delivering outstanding customer service in a vibrant restaurant or club setting. The Food Runner role offers an opportunity to be an essential part of a collaborative team committed to excellence and continuous improvement in food service operations.
