The Food Runner position at Aramark plays a critical role within the kitchen environment, working closely with management to ensure smooth culinary operations. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, managing cash receipts, maintaining detailed meal records, and preparing daily reports. The Food Runner is responsible for ensuring adherence to kitchen safety and sanitation standards, proper handling of cooking equipment, and timely food service. The position demands attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Key responsibilities include preparing high-quality meals according to the menu, managing food storage to prevent contamination, serving meals on schedule, and maintaining cleanliness in work and storage areas. Job Requirements

  • Food service certification required
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively
  • Capability to work under high-pressure situations and complete tasks quickly and accurately
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods
  • Adherence to uniform policy and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality meals and baked goods in accordance with the menu
  • Document and verify daily transactions and meal prep activities
  • Ensure all components of a meal are properly accounted for and prepared
  • Ensure proper and hygienic storage of food to prevent spoilage and contamination
  • Serve food to customers in accordance with the designated meal times and operational procedures
  • Proper handling and maintenance of cooking tools, with particular care for sharp utensils
  • Ensure all food and beverages are prepared and ready promptly for service
  • Use garnishes to enhance the presentation and appeal of the dishes served to customers
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety protocols, ensuring cleanliness, safe food handling, and proper storage
  • Strictly follow the uniform policy and wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary
  • Work with the manager to ensure accurate menu preparation and coordination each day
  • Ensure all food is stored and served at the correct temperatures for safety and quality
  • Keep work and storage areas organized and sanitary at all times
  • Maintain hygiene in all workspaces, including steam tables, counters, and appliances
  • Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing to maintain cleanliness
  • Ensure that garbage is disposed of properly, and that kitchen floors are cleaned and sanitized regularly
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned, which may include supporting various sections of the kitchen
