The Food Runner role at Aramark is a vital position within the kitchen operations designed to ensure smooth and efficient meal preparation and service. Working closely with managers, the Food Runner plays an essential role in assisting with food preparation, managing cash receipts, and maintaining accurate records of meal components. The Food Runner ensures all meal components are properly accounted for and that food storage meets safety standards to prevent contamination or spoilage.

This position involves preparing high-quality meals and baked goods in alignment with the menu, serving food at designated times to customers, and ensuring garnishes enhance the presentation of dishes. Responsibilities extend to daily reporting where documentation and verification of transactions and meal prep activities are crucial. The Food Runner also assists with the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking utensils, with careful attention to sharp instruments to maintain safety.

Physical demands of the role require standing for extended periods and performing physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling, all while adhering to uniform policies and wearing necessary personal protective equipment. The Food Runner ensures temperature control of stored and served foods to maintain quality and safety, and maintains cleanliness in all work and storage areas including steam tables, counters, and appliances. The role may include additional assigned tasks supporting various kitchen sections, requiring flexibility and teamwork.

Job Duties

  • Serve food to customers in accordance with designated meal times and operational procedures
  • Handle and maintain cooking equipment properly, paying particular care to sharp utensils
  • Ensure all food and beverages are prepared and ready promptly for service
  • Use garnishes to enhance dish presentation and appeal
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment
  • Adhere to all food safety protocols ensuring cleanliness, safe food handling, and proper storage
  • Follow uniform policy and wear required Personal Protective Equipment when necessary
  • Coordinate with the manager to ensure accurate menu preparation
  • Ensure correct temperature control for stored and served food
  • Keep work and storage areas organized and sanitary
  • Maintain hygiene in all workspaces including steam tables, counters, and appliances
  • Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • Dispose of garbage properly and regularly sanitize kitchen floors
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned supporting various kitchen sections
