The Food Runner role at Vidorra is an essential part of the restaurant's dynamic team. As a Food Runner, you will be the critical link between the kitchen (Back of the House) and the dining area (Front of the House), ensuring that food orders are delivered promptly, accurately, and in excellent condition. This position requires effective communication with chefs and waitstaff to keep the service flowing smoothly and to address any special requests or challenges promptly. You will be responsible for inspecting dishes for presentation quality, correct temperature, and adherence to restaurant standards before they reach the customer, ensuring a delightful dining experience. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality preferred
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to follow instructions precisely
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience as a food runner or in a similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with kitchen and waitstaff
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to a dynamic, social environment
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods
- Basic knowledge of Mexican cuisine and dining culture is a plus
Job Duties
- Maintain verbal communication with chefs to check on the status of dishes and call for waitstaff when food is ready to serve
- Keep staff well-informed and alert the waitstaff when the kitchen is out of a specific ingredient and relay special food requests from the waitstaff to the kitchen
- Monitor portion control of finished dishes, ensuring they adhere to restaurant standards
- Meet presentation standards by inspecting every plate to make sure the proper garnishes have been applied and that dishes are free of smudges and spills before being delivered to the customer
- Keep kitchen areas clean and orderly in all cooking, prep, and food storage areas, keeping these areas neat, well organized, and stocked with ingredients
- Adhere to sanitation standards to make sure all kitchen and waitstaff follow sanitation standards keeping themselves, their tools, and their work areas clean and presentable
- Assist all staff food to help as needed—cooking and prepping food, serving plates of food, and assisting with management tasks restaurant-wide
