Job Description
Our client is a leading food manufacturing company committed to delivering high-quality and safe food products to consumers while adhering to the highest industry standards. The company operates within the food manufacturing sector and prioritizes quality assurance and food safety as core components of its operational excellence. With a commitment to compliance with various regulatory frameworks including the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, this organization fosters an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. The company maintains robust Quality Assurance and Food Safety Systems to ensure that their products meet and exceed customer expectations, all while maintaining a strong culture of safety and accountability across the site. They employ state-of-the-art methodologies and tools such as World Class Manufacturing (WCM) for continuous improvement, and they regularly participate in internal and external audits including those by AIB and certifications like FSSC 22000.
The role available is for a Quality and Food Safety Leader, a key position responsible for overseeing and leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality and food safety systems across the manufacturing site. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker and a hands-on manager who can not only manage compliance and quality assurance programs but also inspire a team and cross-functional partners to embrace quality as a fundamental operational priority. In this critical role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for all quality assurance, food safety, and compliance programs, and lead the cross-functional Food Safety Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Your leadership will be pivotal in managing microbiological programs, analyzing trends, and ensuring proactive intervention in potential risks.
Moreover, your day-to-day duties will include overseeing audits and preparing corrective actions to maintain compliance with industry certifications, analyzing quality metrics such as Cost of Non-Quality and complaints per million units, and training production teams to enhance quality awareness. You will also champion good manufacturing practices (GMP) and safety, health, and environmental (SHE) initiatives across the site while collaborating closely with various departments such as Production, Warehouses, Procurement, Supply Planning, Contractors, and Research and Development. This role demands a strong leader capable of hiring, training, and developing quality team members, building a high-performance culture focused on operational discipline and product quality excellence. You will also support regulatory compliance across both domestic and export markets, ensuring all customer and regulatory requirements are met with precision and integrity. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry, and who bring 3 to 5 plus years of practical experience in Quality Assurance or Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment, particularly those experienced in FDA or USDA regulated plants.
