Job Description

Michigan Bread Company is a fast-growing commercial bakery located in Taylor, Michigan, specializing in the production of high-quality breads, buns, and rolls. Serving a wide customer base throughout the Midwest, the company operates multiple production lines to produce over 150 unique bakery products. These products are supplied daily to restaurants, retailers, and foodservice partners, ensuring fresh and consistent quality. With a workforce of more than 225 dedicated employees, the company emphasizes safety, teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement as core values underpinning its operational success.

The company's operation blends traditional baking methods with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, allowing the production of a diverse array of specialty and everyday bakery items. Michigan Bread Company prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment that encourages growth, development, and stability. Leadership at the company is firmly committed to employee advancement and creating a workplace where individuals are valued as essential contributors to the bakery's success.

The Production Supervisor role at Michigan Bread Company is a leadership position designed for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position carries significant responsibility, focusing on safety, quality, operational efficiency, and team development. The Production Supervisor plays a crucial role in setting up the bakery for daily success by managing production performance, reducing waste, and enforcing stringent food safety and SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead within a multi-line bread manufacturing environment, emphasizing compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), OSHA standards, and operational excellence. The Production Supervisor will build and develop their own shift team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Core responsibilities include leading and coaching production employees to consistently meet daily production targets, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing real-time problem-solving support. The supervisor will oversee the execution of the production schedule across various lines, monitor labor utilization and line efficiency, and maintain accurate documentation of production metrics. Additionally, this role involves driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Food safety and compliance are paramount, with the Production Supervisor enforcing GMPs, maintaining SQF program adherence, and ensuring that employees are trained on SOPs and safe equipment operation. Operational oversight tasks include monitoring production gauges and controls, troubleshooting mechanical or process issues in collaboration with maintenance teams, and managing communication between baking, packaging, sanitation, and warehouse departments.

Employee relations responsibilities involve addressing attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters professionally, approving time-off requests, and supporting HR programs to boost workforce engagement. This position requires flexibility regarding work schedules, including the possibility of overnight shifts once training is complete and weekend work as needed.

The compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $75,000 annually, accompanied by a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Michigan Bread Company values hands-on leadership and offers production supervisors a chance to make a meaningful impact in a growing, innovative bakery setting where quality and teamwork are priorities.
