This position plays a critical role in the preparation and production of food by meticulously following production guidelines and standardized recipes. The chef is responsible for setting up their workstation with all the necessary ingredients and equipment, preparing ingredients through various culinary processes such as weighing, chopping, and mixing, and safely handling kitchen utensils including knives. Equipment operation, including ovens, stoves, and mixers, is a fundamental aspect, requiring skill and precision. Moreover, Food Production Chefs are entrusted with multiple cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming to prepare meats, vegetables, and other food items.

Maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety is imperative in this role. Chefs are expected to store food properly according to food safety policies, clean and sanitize workspaces, and adhere to all safety procedures prescribed by Aramark. Job Qualifications

  • Experience in cooking or a comparable role
  • Grasp of basic principles of food preparation, various cooking techniques, and compliance with food safety regulations
  • Food safety certification
  • Expertise in basic math operations and numerical counting proficiency
  • Proficiency in interpersonal communication skills including both written and verbal communication
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensures security of company assets
