Job Description
Aramark is a global leader in food, facilities management, and uniforms, serving millions of people every day in 15 countries around the world. With a mission rooted in service and a firm commitment to making a meaningful impact, Aramark focuses on delivering exceptional experiences for their clients, partners, and communities. The company is recognized not only for its extensive operational reach but also for its strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, gender identity, disability, or any other protected status. Working at Aramark means being part of a diverse team that values safety, professionalism, and continuous growth.
The role of Food Preparation Supervisor at Marion Correctional Institution is a critical position within Aramark’s food service operations in a correctional environment. As a Food Preparation Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of meals by managing inmates who assist in food production. This role requires a combination of leadership, operational skills, and a strong commitment to safety and security. The supervisor will assign tasks, train employees, and organize workflows to ensure that meals are produced efficiently and that the facility maintains a clean and safe environment. You will also review and approve production and temperature logs to ensure compliance with food safety standards and adhere to HACCP guidelines. This position demands coordination of schedules, supervision of staff and inmates, inventory management, and ensuring all safety and hygiene standards are met.
Working in this role means directly contributing to the successful delivery of timely, nutritious meals within a highly regulated environment. The position demands the ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of individuals, often under challenging conditions, while maintaining attention to detail and operational excellence. In addition to day-to-day food preparation oversight, the supervisor will be responsible for security compliance, safeguarding equipment and storage areas, and ensuring that all procedures and schedules promote food safety and operational efficiency.
This is a full-time position requiring dedication to safety protocols, strong leadership skills, and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, with at least one year of experience in food preparation or a related role preferred, and prior supervisory experience considered a plus. Food safety certification is a mandatory requirement. Experience working in correctional environments is advantageous but not mandatory. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, bend, push, pull, stand, or walk for extended periods, and willingness to comply with uniform and personal protective equipment standards.
Aramark offers comprehensive benefits including insurance for medical, dental, and vision needs, access to work-life resources, retirement savings plans, and paid time off. These benefits help support employees in managing work and personal life, promoting well-being and long-term career development. The Food Preparation Supervisor role offers an opportunity to be part of a respected, purpose-driven company where you can grow professionally and make a positive impact within the community and workplace.
