The Food Prep Person role at Golden Corral is vital to maintaining the quality and freshness of our buffet offerings, especially the Cold Choice Buffet known for its fresh fruits and vegetables. This position requires someone energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to food safety and presentation standards. The Food Prep Person is responsible for the meticulous preparation of all fresh produce, including cutting, slicing, peeling, and other necessary preparations to ensure that each item meets Golden Corral's strict product specifications and recipes. By maintaining a standard inventory and adhering to the prep production guides, this role plays a critical part in achieving optimum yield and reducing waste.
Operational excellence is a cornerstone of the job, with tasks that include labeling, dating, rotating bulk produce, and ensuring all items are stored properly in approved containers. The Food Prep Person also supports the buffet attendant in keeping the buffet area full, clean, and appealing to guests. Cleanliness is paramount, as is compliance with local health codes. Maintaining a clean and organized prep area, including coolers and equipment, is a daily responsibility to uphold service and quality standards.
Additionally, the Food Prep Person provides guest service by performing administrative tasks and assisting guests during meal periods, ensuring a positive dining experience. Recognizing and reporting any discrepancies such as food spoilage or errors is important to maintain the quality and efficiency of operations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous food preparation experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job including standing and lifting
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain cleanliness standards
- Good interpersonal skills

Job Duties
- Prepares prep items according to Golden Corral product specifications and recipes
- Maintains a standard inventory of prep items according to the Prep Production Guide and Display Cooking Prep Production Guide
- Ensures optimum yield of products through the product cycle
- Labels, dates, and rotates all bulk produce and prepped items
- Ensures all food items are in approved, covered storage containers
- Completes use and following of the buffet production system to insure quality and shelf life compliance
- Notifies the Manager of any discrepancies such as food spoilage, invoice errors, excessive waste, or products that do not meet specifications
- Assists the Buffet Attendant in maintaining a full, clean buffet
- Cleans, maintains, and organizes prep area including cooler(s), equipment, and dry storage
- Performs duty roster and ensures cleanliness, service, and quality standards are met
- Knows and follows position responsibilities as they relate to just-in-time delivery
- Follows local health department laws
- Performs administrative tasks and helps guests during meal periods
