Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, committed to creating a better everyday experience for individuals and communities worldwide. At the University of Texas at El Paso, Sodexo operates as a pivotal food service provider, offering nourishing meals and exceptional customer care to students, faculty, and staff. The company emphasizes a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusivity, dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Sodexo's presence at the university is part of a larger network of food service operations that prioritize quality, safety, and sustainability, helping to enhance campus life and support academic success.
The Food Prep Helper position at Sodexo is a part-time role focused on supporting the preparation and serving of a variety of menu options within the university’s food service areas. Employees in this role are essential team members who contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This position requires flexibility with work shifts, including days, some weekends, and holidays, to meet the dynamic needs of the university community. With a pay range of $9 to $11 per hour, this job offers a valuable opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in food service and work in a supportive, team-oriented setting.
As a Food Prep Helper, you will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of both hot and cold foods, following recipes and product guidelines, and ensuring all food production areas are clean and sanitized. The role also involves performing basic cooking tasks, such as cooking vegetables or chicken for salads. Punctuality and reliable attendance are critical to meet scheduled shifts, along with a positive attitude that fosters a welcoming environment for all customers and team members.
This role is ideal for candidates who are adaptable, reliable, and committed to creating a healthy and safe workspace. While previous experience in a similar role is beneficial, it is not mandatory, making it accessible to individuals new to the food service industry or students seeking part-time employment. Sodexo offers a flexible and supportive work environment, ongoing training and development opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, and employee discount programs.
Working at Sodexo also means being part of a company that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, where employees are encouraged to be themselves and contribute ideas that strengthen the team. The role aligns with Sodexo’s mission to improve the quality of life for all served and to contribute positively to the communities in which it operates. Joining Sodexo as a Food Prep Helper provides not only a job but a chance to be part of something bigger – an organization committed to making a meaningful impact through everyday actions and exceptional service.
