Job Requirements

  • Regularly work at the SUN Site Schools and their community as needed
  • reliable car, driver's license, and automobile liability insurance
  • must be eligible to be an insured driver under Latino Network's Commercial Auto Liability
  • may require heavy lifting and walking during events and outreach activities
  • undergoing and passing a criminal background check is required

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience preferably within the field of non-profit emergency assistance, community outreach services or pantry/food assistance programs preferred
  • ability to follow directions and have strong organizational and time management skills
  • excellent oral and written communication and ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, service providers, community members and co-workers
  • ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • bilingual in Spanish and English with ability to translate/interpret orally in Spanish for families preferred
  • knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel

Job Duties

  • Understand and adhere to food safety guidelines and successfully partner with the Oregon Food Bank
  • place food orders for SUN School Food Pantries
  • identify and establish new sources of food donations and accept them including donations from local community members as applicable
  • order and accept food delivery from various places such as the Oregon Food Bank
  • organize all pantry items in pantry space provided, stock shelves as needed, ensure food program inventory is adequate and all required standards are met
  • recruit, train, and organize volunteer teams to assist with setup and distribution with guidance from supervisor
  • ensure everyone follows all OFB standards for food handling, storage, set up, and distribution
  • maintain a clean food storage area and equipment, defrost freezer, clean refrigerator, check equipment monthly, check freezer and refrigerator temperature logs and rotation of food
  • develop plans to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers with guidance from the supervisor
  • work creatively and collaboratively with the supervisor and school pantries to ensure the community is aware of the service provided
  • compile and report required statistical information for the agency and OFB to submit monthly
  • work independently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups
  • demonstrate ability to work effectively with youth, parents and diverse communities and cultures and communicate effectively with those whose English language skills are limited
