Job Description
LSG Sky Chefs is one of the world’s largest airline catering and hospitality providers, recognized for its outstanding reputation and innovative approach within the airline catering industry. The company has been voted “Airline Caterer of the Year in North America” for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, and 2025), which highlights its commitment to excellence, quality, and continuous improvement. With a vast presence across North and Latin America, LSG Sky Chefs supplies inflight meals and hospitality products that meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The organization prides itself on fostering a dynamic work environment where talented employees thrive and contribute to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
The role available is for a Food Operations Supervisor located in Portland, USA, with an onsite work setting. The salary range for this position is $63,277.07 to $79,096.33, reflecting the importance and seniority of the role within the company. This supervisory position plays a pivotal role in managing the food production team and ensuring the seamless operation of meal preparation processes in a fast-paced airline catering environment. The Food Operations Supervisor leads and motivates a high-performing team that includes leads and runners across both hot and cold food preparation areas. This leadership role requires direct oversight of food production to ensure meals are prepared, portioned, and assembled strictly according to gold standard specifications. This includes adherence to FIFO (first in, first out) inventory controls, allergen management, HACCP compliance, and quality checks using scales and sample plates.
The supervisor is responsible for managing overall shift operations, from preparing meals for evening flights to executing large-scale production plans. A significant aspect of the role is being hands-on by conducting roll calls, monitoring prep stations, and reinforcing food safety and quality standards on the floor. Another critical responsibility is managing operational efficiency through scheduling, labor planning, inventory controls, and ensuring the timely routing of meals to meet strict flight deadlines. Collaboration is essential as the supervisor works closely with fellow supervisors, production leads, and warehouse teams involved in picking, packing, and shipping to maintain smooth and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate will bring leadership and problem-solving skills to inspire and manage the team effectively, along with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities to juggle multiple priorities. Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards including OSHA, USDA, FDA, and EPA requirements is important. The position fosters a culture of continuous improvement and safety, emphasizing a strong passion for operational excellence, safety, and quality consistently throughout all activities. LSG Sky Chefs offers a comprehensive array of benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage effective from the first day, employer-paid life insurance, AD&D, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, sick and holiday leave, 401(k) with company match, free meals and parking, and opportunities for career advancement. This role represents a rewarding opportunity for a motivated professional seeking to contribute significantly to a renowned global leader in airline catering.
