The Virginia Department of Corrections operates the Sussex I and II Prison Complex, located in Sussex, Virginia. This position, classified under the state role title Food Service Technician III, is integral to the smooth functioning of the prison’s food service operations. The Food Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation and serving of meals for both inmates and staff. This supervisory role involves monitoring inmate workers, ensuring compliance with kitchen policies and procedures, and maintaining stringent standards of food safety, sanitation, and overall meal quality. The supervisor will also be tasked with training inmates on all kitchen operations and safety protocols, thereby fostering a well-organized and efficient food service environment.
The hiring salary range for this role is $45,335 to $61,717 annually, classified under Pay Band 3, reflective of the responsibility and expertise required.
