The Food Department Manager role at Meijer represents a pivotal leadership position within the retail environment. This role is responsible for overseeing team member engagement within their span of care, focusing on leadership development, team coaching, feedback, performance management, training, and succession planning. The manager directs Leads and Team Leaders while owning operational and financial accountability for their department, including areas such as shrink management, productivity, safety, scheduling, forecasting staffing needs, and resolving team member and customer conflicts. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4+ years of retail, grocery, or customer service experience

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Engages with team members in span of care to ensure they receive onboarding, training and development, coaching and feedback
  • Identifies talent and supports career discussions to maintain a diversified talent pipeline
  • Participates in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and promote team member growth
  • Oversees operations and financial results ensuring execution of corporate plans, managing sales productivity, and owning budget line items
  • Drives safety, compliance, and condition management within the store
  • Ensures Team Leaders and Leads provide guidance, assign daily work, and address training needs
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to maintain department efficiency
