The Food & Beverage Expert role at Target is a vital position within the Food & Beverage team, dedicated to delivering a consistent and enjoyable shopping experience. This role involves ensuring that food products are fresh, properly stocked, accurately priced, and well-signed on the sales floor. Specialists in this team manage operations, process efficiency, and a variety of inventory-related tasks including replenishment and food safety, ensuring compliance with health standards and company policies. They also handle promotional signing processes and are responsible for maintaining the presentation and quality of the food department. The role is hourly with a starting wage of $18.50 USD per hour, offering employees an opportunity to develop skills in retail food service management and customer engagement.

This position requires flexibility, physical stamina, and a strong dedication to customer service. Food & Beverage Experts interact directly with guests, provide essential product information, give storage tips, and help promote food items through sampling and suggestive selling. They play a key role in maintaining food seasonality standards, executing safety protocols, and ensuring accurate pricing and inventory data. Job Requirements

  • accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • climb up and down ladders
  • scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • reliable and prompt attendance
  • ability to work in an environment ranging from 34°F to -10°F
  • ability to work in spaces with common allergens
  • capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements
  • ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift

Job Qualifications

  • must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • previous food or grocery experience preferred but not required
  • welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members
  • ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment
  • work independently and with a team
  • resolve guest questions quickly
  • attention to detail and follow multi-step processes
  • capable to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Job Duties

  • deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • uphold and maintain the execution of the Food & Beverage Standards
  • execute Food & Beverage processes including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in-stocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing and storing reserve product
  • follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures
  • use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales
  • work with vendors to set, maintain and make planned changes to salesfloor merchandise displays and organize backroom space
  • locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to Target’s policies and procedures
