Aparium Hospitality Services is a dynamic hospitality company distinguished by its commitment to People, Place, and Character. This forward-thinking hotel brand blends the business acumen of large hospitality firms with the charm of boutique hotels. Founded with the vision to operate in vibrant smaller markets, Aparium Hospitality Services prides itself on elevating the guest experience while celebrating the communities and neighborhoods where its properties are located. One of its prime properties, Hotel Heron, situated in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, showcases this unique approach. The hotel offers guests an opportunity to explore beyond the typical tourist paths with its combination of historic charm and modern amenities, including a signature restaurant specializing in Mid-Atlantic cuisine, a craft cocktail bar, and a seasonal rooftop bar boasting views of the Potomac River. Featuring 134 rooms and expansive event spaces, Hotel Heron focuses on creating welcoming environments for both visitors and locals alike.
The Food & Beverage Supervisor role at Aparium Hospitality Services is an essential leadership position responsible for ensuring impeccable service quality across the restaurant, bar, and banquet operations. Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage or the Restaurant Manager, this non-exempt position plays a pivotal role in bridging strategic leadership with day-to-day execution. The Supervisor is deeply involved in overseeing operations, supporting team development, and driving consistent, elevated guest experiences aligned with Aparium's high service standards. This position demands a hands-on leader who is both observant and proactive, ready to step in and solve problems while coaching and motivating staff. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, possesses expert knowledge of menus and beverage offerings, and maintains a calm, professional demeanor.
In this role, the Food & Beverage Supervisor manages multiple responsibilities such as maintaining thorough knowledge of food preparation methods, beverage service, and proper use of stemware. The position requires skillful utilization of POS and back-office systems for sales reporting and labor coordination. Supervisory duties include scheduling, payroll support, performing monthly inventories, and fostering associate training and development. This leader also handles guest concerns discreetly and efficiently, ensuring that operational challenges are addressed promptly with a solutions-focused mindset. Collaboration with Culinary, Hotel Operations, and Food & Beverage leadership teams is crucial to ensure seamless coordination and operational success. Aparium Hospitality Services values flexibility, curiosity, and collaboration, and the Food & Beverage Supervisor is expected to embody these principles daily, leading with clarity, respect, accountability, and consistency.
To succeed in this role, applicants should have a minimum of two years' experience in food and beverage supervision, strong working knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and beverage service, and a firm understanding of service excellence, labor control, merchandising, maintenance, and basic accounting principles. Proficiency with computer systems including POS and scheduling tools is essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. The role requires adaptability to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate. Aparium Hospitality Services also champions diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering an equitable and welcoming environment for all employees.
