The Temecula KOA at Vail Lake Resort is one of the crown jewels of Kampgrounds Enterprises’ portfolio. Located in the picturesque southern part of California, this sprawling campground is nestled among a serene grove of oak trees and offers a year-round destination for campers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families alike. Situated close to the famous Temecula wine country, the beautiful Vail Lake, and miles of trails suitable for mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking, the KOA park provides a diverse range of recreational opportunities. The property features over 400 RV sites along with 26 accommodation units, and there is an ongoing plan for continued renovation and enhancement to meet the growing needs of visitors.

The role offered at Temecula KOA at Vail Lake Resort is a full-time position designed for an experienced and dynamic individual who will take on key leadership and operational responsibilities within the food and beverage and recreational activities departments. The position offers an hourly wage starting at $25, with adjustments depending on relevant experience. The anticipated schedule includes 40 hours per week with a requirement to work at least one weekend day. Daily working hours are flexible between 7 am and 11 pm to accommodate department needs, with scheduling overlaps to ensure alignment with the General Manager.

This leadership role is multifaceted, encompassing administrative duties, staff training and development, menu planning, event coordination, and operational oversight to ensure superior guest experiences. Specific responsibilities include attending department head meetings, managing staff schedules, approving time sheets, overseeing food preparation and bar operations in compliance with state health codes, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate inventory. The position also involves orchestrating campground events aimed at boosting occupancy and enhancing the allure of the destination.

Leadership is a core aspect of this role, requiring the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training of departmental staff. Oversight of employee performance evaluations, managing disciplinary actions, and providing shift cover when necessary are also integral parts of the job. Communication skills are vital, as the role demands interactions with guests, staff, senior leadership, and 3rd party vendors, all aimed at maintaining a professional and service-oriented environment.

Candidates interested in this role should bring proficiency in Microsoft Office and other internet applications, previous experience in tourism, customer service, hospitality or a similar leadership role, physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a valid driver's license. Job Duties

  • attend weekly department head meetings
  • meet with general manager individually once per week
  • disseminate information on project plans, policy changes and other information to teams
  • daily and weekly scheduling for the department
  • approval of department time sheets
  • facilitate trainings for department staff
  • coordinate with senior leadership on yearly planning
  • plan and prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner menus/recipes in a café style kitchen
  • create schedule of weekly food and beverage specials/menus
  • ensure all staff follow proper preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage
  • follow all state health code rules and regulations for bar and café
  • order supplies for food service and bar
  • maintain partnerships with 3rd party vendors
  • keep accurate and up-to-date inventory
  • propose, create and execute large and small scale events to increase campground occupancy
  • recruit and hire staff for department
  • ensure all employees complete TIPS and/or Food Handler’s training
  • orient and train new hires and assist with HR tasks
  • conduct employee disciplinary actions when needed
  • conduct bi-annual or quarterly employee reviews
  • cover shifts for food service and bar departments as necessary
  • resolve and coordinate customer service recovery
  • communicate directives and assign tasks to staff
  • interact with guests and staff professionally and courteously
  • adhere to company purchasing policy
