Job Requirements

  • Four year college degree preferred
  • At least two years of progressive experience in food and beverage management or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage industry and bartending
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in reading, writing and management reports
  • Basic mathematical and budgeting skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and MICROS software
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret written, oral and diagram instructions
  • Valid alcohol awareness certification or food service permit or health card as required by law

Job Qualifications

  • Four year college degree preferred in hospitality, culinary arts, food service or business management
  • At least two years of progressive experience in food and beverage management or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, industry trends, competition, wine, liquor, beer and bartending
  • Excellent communication skills for guest and employee interaction
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and management reporting
  • Mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss analysis
  • Computer skills including working knowledge of Excel, Word and MICROS systems
  • Strong problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • Ability to interpret instructions in various formats
  • Alcohol awareness certification or food service permit or valid health/food handler card required

Job Duties

  • Assists in managing the kitchen operations
  • Supervise and direct the staff ensuring prompt guest service
  • Manage human resource responsibilities including hiring, firing, training, and discipline
  • Handle staff scheduling and maintain hotel timekeeping system
  • Approve weekly timesheets, payroll, purchase orders and invoices
  • Create and communicate restaurant and lounge operating hours
  • Assist in menu creation, pricing, and specials
  • Evaluate employee performance and enforce grooming standards
  • Develop employee engagement strategies and training programs
  • Foster relationships with coworkers, guests, and suppliers
  • Attend management, BEO, hotel staff and safety meetings
  • Assist in budget creation and expense monitoring
  • Promote teamwork and coordinate with other departments
  • Assist with banquets, parties and special events
  • Develop strategies to increase revenue and average check sizes
  • Ensure shift change communication between kitchen and service areas
  • Monitor guest satisfaction via feedback and reviews
  • Oversee reservations and coordinate with front desk
  • Manage cash accountability, inventory, payroll, and personnel procedures
  • Plan and implement special events and holiday functions
  • Train staff on food safety, cash handling and service standards
  • Inspect food and beverage deliveries for compliance
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and facilities
  • Notify maintenance of repairs
  • Conduct inventory and stock level management
  • Support food and beverage marketing programs
  • Lead food and beverage training programs
  • Monitor hygiene, sanitation and compliance with regulations
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by senior management
  • Interact with guests, vendors, regulatory agencies and other external contacts
