Job Description

Winnetka Golf Club is a premier public golf facility located on Chicago's North Shore, serving the Village of Winnetka and neighboring communities. Operated by KemperSports in partnership with the Winnetka Park District, this distinguished Club offers a 27-hole layout, including an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole par-3 course. These courses are complemented by comprehensive practice facilities and foster a strong community-driven golf culture, making it a vibrant hub for golf enthusiasts of all skill levels. The Club also boasts a food and beverage operation featuring a recently upgraded kitchen, bar service, grab-and-go offerings, beverage cart services, and event catering, all designed to enhance the overall guest experience.

The Food & Beverage Manager position at Winnetka Golf Club is an exceptional leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire food and beverage operation with a focus on execution, quality, and financial performance. This role entails managing daily food service, kitchen coordination, bar operations, event catering, and seasonal programming. The Manager will ensure the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction are consistently met. This hands-on position offers the unique opportunity to build and develop the food and beverage program from the ground up, having significant influence over menu development, service models, operational systems, and the cultivation of a positive, productive team culture. Reporting to the General Manager and collaborating closely with other department leaders, the Food & Beverage Manager drives revenue growth while enhancing operational efficiency and delivering a best-in-class food and beverage experience aligned with the Club's high standards and community-focused mission.

Key responsibilities include staff training and development, cost control, labor management, inventory oversight, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations. The Manager also plays a critical role in customer relations, promoting food and beverage offerings, supporting event planning, and contributing to the strategic growth of the department. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with an expected salary range of $55,000 to $60,000. Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • 5 years applicable functional, supervisory and/or management experience, preferably in the golf industry
  • ability to analyze and solve problems
  • work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends
  • maintain knowledge of current industry developments
  • ensure compliance with health, safety and alcohol service regulations
  • manage staff supervision and development
  • experience in fiscal and strategic planning

Job Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 5 years applicable functional, supervisory and/or management experience, preferably in the golf industry
  • demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management
  • demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to analyze and solve problems
  • efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
  • work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends
  • positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations

Job Duties

  • Develop the annual food and beverage budget and operating plan
  • implement the plan according to company operating policies and procedures to ensure profit goals are achieved as outlined
  • plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure customer service standards are achieved with minimum employee cost
  • monitor activities to ensure compliance with company payroll policies and procedures
  • ensure maintenance of all appropriate sanitation standards including employee hygiene and uniforms, kitchen food service equipment and preparation areas, food storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, dining areas, patio, snack bar areas, bar areas, restrooms, and beverage carts
  • establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate fixtures, equipment, appliances, vehicles, etc
  • implement and monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain par-stock levels on food and beverage inventories and ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases
  • monitor internal cost controls for the department
  • ensure quality levels of food and beverage products and maintain standards in production, presentation, services, facilities, and guest satisfaction
  • sell food and beverage services to potential outing clients/members, show facilities and assist in planning as needed
  • develop promotional programs to improve dollars per round
  • ensure compliance with operating guidelines related to the R.A.M. or Tips programs
  • ensure operations comply with all state and federal laws, rules and regulations, relating to food and beverage sanitation, alcohol, and ADA requirements
  • manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline and termination, etc
  • maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations
  • assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related reports
  • perform other duties as appropriate
