Job Description
Target Corporation is a leading retail company widely recognized for its commitment to providing a superior shopping experience to its guests. Known for its diverse range of quality products, Target serves millions of customers across the United States every day. The company emphasizes an inclusive culture and values that promote teamwork, innovation, and community engagement. Working at Target means joining a dynamic environment where employees are encouraged to grow personally and professionally, supported by comprehensive training and opportunities for career advancement. Target’s Food & Beverage team plays an essential role in maintaining the freshness, availability, and overall quality of food products, ensuring that customers enjoy a pleasant shopping journey each time they visit.
The Food & Beverage Expert is an integral part of Target's retail operations, responsible for managing various aspects including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, product presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in guest service fundamentals and build a strong foundation in food retail operations. The position focuses on creating a guest-first culture by delivering personalized service, sharing product knowledge, and assisting shoppers with food storage and purchasing advice.
A typical day for a Food & Beverage Expert involves overseeing food deliveries; replenishing stock; straightening merchandise on shelves; maintaining data accuracy; following food safety guidelines; rotating and culling products; and ensuring the sales floor is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked. The role requires collaboration with vendors to maintain visually appealing merchandise displays and efficiently organize backroom inventory. The expert will also be responsible for identifying damaged, recalled, or expired items and processing them according to Target policies.
Target highly values safety, ethical conduct, and compliance. The Food & Beverage Expert must adhere strictly to food safety requirements and state and federal laws related to adult beverage sales. The role demands that employees use and care for personal protective equipment properly and maintain a safe working environment by following safety protocols. In addition to primary duties, Food & Beverage Experts may provide back-up support for guest services including cashier duties, order pickups, and Drive-Up services—all while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The ideal candidate enjoys engaging with guests and team members, thrives in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, and adapts easily to flexible schedules that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times. Target provides extensive training to equip Food & Beverage Experts with the skills needed to succeed and grow within their roles.
This position offers not only competitive pay starting at $18.25 per hour but also an opportunity to join a company committed to diversity, inclusion, and employee development. Target supports employees with a wide range of benefits including financial, health, and well-being programs, fostering a positive workplace culture where team members can build meaningful careers while making a difference in their communities.
