Job Description
Marriott International is a global leader in the hospitality industry, recognized for its exceptional standards and commitment to creating memorable guest experiences. Among its diverse portfolio of hotel brands is Courtyard, a brand specifically designed with the modern business traveler in mind. Courtyard hotels provide comfortable and convenient environments that cater to the unique needs of travelers, offering amenities and services that enhance both productivity and relaxation. Marriott International is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where the rich blend of cultures, talents, and experiences of its associates is celebrated. The company actively promotes equal opportunity employment, ensuring a welcoming environment for all, regardless of background or protected status. This dedication to diversity and inclusion extends throughout the organization and is deeply embedded in its values.
The role of Guest Service Expert at Courtyard offers an opportunity to be part of a passionate and motivated team that goes beyond simply serving food and drinks. This position revolves around creating memorable and unique dining experiences that guests will appreciate and remember. Guest Service Experts take initiative and deliver a wide range of services that contribute to the overall guest satisfaction. Key responsibilities include setting tables, communicating effectively with kitchen staff, interacting and serving guests in a friendly and professional manner, as well as maintaining cleanliness of work areas and supplies. These experts act as the face of the hotel’s dining services, ensuring that every transaction feels like a seamless part of the guest experience.
Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety in the workplace, adherence to company policies, and upholding high quality standards consistently. Personal appearance and professional communication are also critical, as these reflect on the brand and the level of care provided to guests. The nature of the role is physically active, requiring candidates to be on their feet for extended periods, capable of moving across varied surfaces, and maneuvering menu items. The job entails a hands-on approach, including the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance, as well as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. This physical engagement ensures that the environment is prepared and maintained to the highest standards for guest satisfaction.
The preferred qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, along with less than one year of related work experience. No supervisory experience is necessary, and no special licenses or certifications are required. Marriott International encourages candidates who are eager to develop their hospitality skills and who are passionate about delivering excellent service to apply. Joining the Courtyard team means becoming part of a brand that values growth, learning, and teamwork, while delivering the best possible experience to guests. The company’s focus on personal and professional development helps employees to not only achieve their professional goals but also find meaning and purpose in the work they do, all within a supportive global team.
