Job Description
Genki Sushi USA, Inc. is a dynamic and customer-focused restaurant chain known for its innovative approach to serving authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi. As a part of a globally recognized brand, Genki Sushi aims to provide an exceptional dining experience through high-quality food, unique service methods, and a welcoming atmosphere. The company is committed to maintaining rigorous standards of cleanliness, customer service, and operational efficiency to ensure customers leave satisfied and return for future visits. With a network of locations across multiple states, Genki Sushi is dedicated to growth and career development for its employees, fostering a culture that values teamwork, integrity, and continuous learning.
The Front of House Trainee (FOH-T) position at Genki Sushi USA, Inc. is designed as an entry-level role aimed at individuals looking to start or advance their careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Reporting to the Senior and Store Manager (T-4), this trainee role provides structured training and skill development opportunities across multiple front of house duties. Under close supervision, the FOH-T receives clear instructions on tasks and is guided to become proficient in various job stations, including server, host, cashier, and refreshment bar operations.
This role is essential for learning the foundational aspects of restaurant operations, including maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the dining area, assisting with stock management, and delivering excellent customer service aligned with Genki Sushi's standards. The FOH-T is responsible for ensuring that dining areas are organized and sanitized according to company policies, working alongside management to uphold the restaurant’s interior and exterior appearance, and addressing customer concerns professionally and calmly.
Throughout the 90-day probationary period for new hires, employees in this role are expected to become competent in all designated duty stations. The position requires flexibility in work schedules, typically involving 4 to 6 hour shifts, with a minimum expected commitment of 35 hours per week. These shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays, with at least two of the three-weekly shifts being on weekends.
Working conditions involve primarily indoor tasks in a restaurant setting, with occasional exposure to varying temperatures due to kitchen and refrigerated environments. Employees will also handle cleaning chemicals necessary for maintaining sanitation and will operate various restaurant equipment, including POS systems, seating computers, cash registers, beverage fountains, and trash compactors.
Genki Sushi USA, Inc. values employees who demonstrate organization, neatness, and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. The company conducts regular briefings and team meetings to keep staff informed and aligned with operational goals. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking hands-on experience in food service, customer relations, and restaurant management with clear pathways for growth and skill enhancement.
