The Front of House (FOH) Shift Supervisor position at Berry Fresh Cafe plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily shift activities and delivering an outstanding guest experience. As an FOH Shift Supervisor, you will work closely with the Front of House staff to lead, supervise, and support the team during your shifts. Your primary focus will be on maintaining a positive and efficient environment where every guest feels valued and satisfied. This includes managing guest concerns with professionalism and care, performing essential opening and closing duties, and upholding high standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout the restaurant.

In this role, you will act as a key communication link between the team and management, promptly reporting issues and collaborating with the Service Manager to address challenges such as staffing and employee performance. Your leadership abilities will be vital as you assist with training new and current employees, conducting pre-shift meetings, and ensuring that all health, safety, and sanitation protocols are strictly followed. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining all front of house equipment to ensure operational efficiency.

Physical stamina and a hands-on approach are necessary attributes for this position, as you will assist your team with various tasks such as running food, seating customers, answering phones, and handling reservations. The role requires someone who can multitask effectively while paying close attention to detail and time management. You will be expected to lead by example in promoting a safe working environment to minimize risks and handle any incidents promptly through accident reporting.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years experience in a restaurant environment
  • Experience with restaurant point of sale and scheduling systems
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to handle physical requirements of the role including standing long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years in the restaurant industry
  • Ability to use restaurant technology including point of sale and scheduling software
  • Ability to train guide and lead staff
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Strong organizational skills and capable of multitasking with attention to detail and time management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods
  • Able to reach bend stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong time management skills
  • Valid drivers license with reliable transportation

Job Duties

  • Ensure positive guest service in all areas - respond to complaints taking appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests
  • Complete all opening and closing duties
  • Maintain professional restaurant image including restaurant cleanliness proper uniforms and appearance standards
  • Communicate with Management keeping all parties promptly informed of issues
  • Assist Front of House staff when needed including expedite or run food bus tables seat customers answer phones make reservations
  • Ensure all FOH equipment is functioning and maintained as needed
  • Under the supervision of the Service Manager assist in handling day-to-day employment issues including tardiness staffing disputes discipline
  • Work with the Service Manager to conduct training and development of employees through orientations performance evaluations and recognition
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and plan and execute staff meetings as approved by Service Manager
  • Follow cash control and security procedures
  • Ensure quality standards for food and beverage service enforce health safety and sanitation standards in Front of House
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents complete accident reports promptly in the event a guest or employee is injured
