The role of the bartender at this private club is central to the guest experience, responsible not only for serving drinks but also for contributing to a welcoming and efficient dining and social environment. The bartender will be tasked with mixing and serving alcoholic beverages, ensuring that guest orders are accurate and timely, and assisting with managing inventory and restocking supplies. Attention to detail, such as maintaining a clean work area and complying with state alcohol service laws and club policies, is essential.

In addition to these core responsibilities, the bartender assists with food service when necessary, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. The position requires a good knowledge of beverage menus, including wines and cocktails, so the bartender can confidently answer questions and recommend drinks. This role also involves handling sales tickets, member information, and ensuring proper transaction procedures are followed to support the club’s operational standards.

Job Requirements

  • Must be neat, cooperative, and cheerful with member and fellow employees
  • Must have knowledge of food and beverage serving skills normally acquired through on the job training and a minimum of three months experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to be courteous in greeting members and communicating menu items
  • Ability to handle physical demands including long periods of walking and standing
  • Ability to lift and carry trays weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Compliance with club policies and state alcohol service statutes
  • Availability to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of three months experience in food and beverage serving
  • Knowledge of food and beverage serving skills normally acquired through on the job training
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be courteous in greeting members and communicating menu items
  • Ability to acquire working knowledge of the menu and beverage and wine service
  • Cooperative and cheerful demeanor with members and fellow employees

Job Duties

  • Mixes and serve alcoholic drinks to order
  • Responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of glassware and restocking glassware
  • Maintains an adequate supply of liquors, beers, wines, sodas, and mixers by requisitioning such supplies at the end of each shift or throughout the shift
  • Ensures orders are made in a fair and timely manner and in a sequenced order
  • Acquires a working knowledge of the menu and beverage and wine service and can answer questions about the same
  • Responsible for sale tickets and proper entering of member information and Food & Beverage orders
  • Sees that member sign tickets
  • Responsible for daily inventory, requisition and end-of-the-month inventory
  • May establish recipes for drinks and set up portion controls for beverages upon approval of the Clubhouse Manager
  • Waits on members and guests when necessary
  • Should possess knowledge of various types of liquors, beers, wines, mixed drinks
  • Ensures compliance with various state statutes and club policy on alcohol service
  • Be prepared to assist co-workers in any department
  • Any other duties not stated as assigned
