Job Description
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a distinguished private, nonprofit, community-based healthcare system serving a vast 22-county region encompassing North Florida and South Georgia. Renowned for its commitment to excellence and compassionate care, TMH stands as the region's foremost healthcare leader, delivering a broad spectrum of advanced medical services. Employing over 6,000 dedicated colleagues, TMH prides itself on representing the rich diversity of the community it serves, fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment that nurtures career growth and stability.
Operating a 772-bed acute care hospital, TMH is equipped with the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. These specialized centers underscore TMH's dedication to providing critical and complex care to patients of all ages, from newborns to adults. Furthermore, TMH boasts the most advanced programs in oncology, cardiology, vascular care, orthopedics, and surgical services within the Panhandle region. In addition to the acute care hospital, the TMH system includes a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and over 50 affiliated physician practices, collectively ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage tailored to diverse patient needs.
The Environmental Services Worker role at TMH plays a crucial part in maintaining the facility's high standards of cleanliness and safety, imperative for delivering exceptional patient care. This position, classified within Sodexo’s workforce management, focuses primarily on floor care within the healthcare environment but may extend services across other locations including educational and commercial settings. The Floor Technician is entrusted with cleaning and maintaining floors, carpets, and hard surfaces utilizing heavy and specialized equipment. Their efforts contribute significantly to infection control, patient satisfaction, and overall facility maintenance.
As a valued team member, the Floor Technician is responsible for routine and specialized cleaning tasks such as buffing, polishing, stripping floors, and performing general upkeep of furniture and waste management areas. The role demands adherence to strict safety protocols, including OSHA guidelines, and active participation in safety training and meetings, ensuring a secure environment for both staff and patients. Further responsibilities include reporting maintenance needs, assisting in training new employees, and potentially driving small vehicles like golf carts within the facility grounds.
Candidates for this position are expected to have a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for those with at least two years of experience in healthcare or hospitality industries. Although prior hospital or healthcare housekeeping experience is not mandatory, the selected candidate will undergo comprehensive training to meet and exceed TMH's rigorous standards. Knowledge of advanced floor care techniques such as stripping, waxing, and burnishing is advantageous and will aid in the successful completion of the probationary period.
This opportunity presents a stable, rewarding career within a leading healthcare organization dedicated to making a positive impact on the community’s health and well-being. TMH offers a supportive atmosphere where environmental services professionals can develop specialized skills, contribute meaningfully to patient care environments, and be part of a mission-driven organization committed to healthcare excellence.
