The role of Floating General Manager at FiveStar is a dynamic leadership position responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operations of assigned stores, particularly in the absence of a permanent General Manager. This position requires a hands-on leader who is adept at managing various aspects of the store's functionality, including accounting, marketing, customer service, human resources, and food service. The Floating General Manager works closely with the permanent General Manager or independently to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently, meeting both financial goals and customer satisfaction standards.

This position demands a proactive and versatile leader capable of training and managing store teams, resolving problems effectively, and implementing company policies and communications. The Floating General Manager plays a vital role in maintaining inventory control, merchandising, and ensuring that store displays, pricing, and promotional signage are up to standard. They are also responsible for overseeing food operations, guaranteeing food quality, adherence to safety guidelines, and managing labor budgets to optimize store performance.

In addition to operational management, the Floating General Manager is charged with reviewing profit and loss statements and making strategic decisions to improve store profitability. They must demonstrate excellent customer service skills, promoting the FiveStar treatment, which emphasizes a friendly atmosphere, meeting customer needs, and suggestive selling to enhance customer experience and drive sales. This position typically involves varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, as well as travel to different store locations.

Candidates for this role should possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with 1+ years of retail management experience being preferred. Key attributes include a professional appearance, positive attitude, honesty, hard work, excellent attendance, and basic computer skills. Physical demands can be considerable, as the job entails standing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting up to 55 pounds, and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of retail management experience or equivalent educational background

  • ability to work in varying seasonal weather conditions

Job Duties

  • Proficient in customer service, management, and food service responsibilities and is hands-on in daily operations
  • partners with FiveStar team to provide customers with service as outlined by the company's policies and procedures
  • ensures timely and thorough training of store team
  • effectively addresses issues at store level to assure long-term problem resolution
  • educates store team and follows up on policies and communications
  • merchandising and ensuring adequate inventory levels (evaluate displays, pricing, promotional signage, out of stocks)
  • practices and promotes the FiveStar treatment (friendly atmosphere, customer's needs met, suggestive selling)
  • ensures inventory control methods are in place, equipment is in good condition, adequate staffing, following labor budget, completing accounting and paperwork tasks timely, and safety and robbery prevention guidelines in place
  • oversee food operation, evaluating appearance of food service areas, food quality, tracking, promotions, signage, and following food service guidelines
  • review P&L statements and implement changes to improve store performance
