Job Requirements

  • Availability to work Monday through Friday with flexibility to work afternoons from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
  • Ability to spend extended periods on the floor with children
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday

Job Qualifications

  • EEC Teacher Certification, CDA, or equivalent degree and experience preferred
  • Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting preferred
  • An engaging and energetic demeanor with a passion for helping young children meet and exceed developmental goals
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment

Job Duties

  • Providing substitute coverage when teachers are out sick, completing planning time, in need of breaks, or any other coverage needs throughout the day
  • Assisting classroom teachers with routine opening and closing of the classroom, including wiping down toys, cleaning tables, vacuuming, sanitizing after children have left, and preparing the classroom for the next day
  • Providing classroom assistance by preparing materials for lesson plans, engaging with students during free play, assisting with projects, supervising outdoor time, supporting bathroom needs and diapering, assisting during snack and lunch, and helping with naptime
  • Adhering to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers
  • Maintaining cleanliness throughout the school including staff kitchen areas, lobbies, bathrooms, using cleaning equipment, emptying trash, assisting with laundry and organizing nap mats
  • Encouraging children's participation by providing age-appropriate interactive activities
  • Maintaining required professional development hours and attending monthly staff meetings
  • Creating a fun and safe learning environment
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents
