Job Requirements

  • Degree from an accredited school of Medicine in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia
  • At least twenty-four months working in the aerospace medicine field
  • Experience must have been recent with the twenty-four months ended not later than six months before placement
  • Maintain all current licenses and certifications necessary to practice as a physician
  • Possess a Basic Military Aerospace Medicine Certification or be Board Certified in Aerospace Medicine
  • Be board-certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Maintain CPR certification by either the American Heart Association or the Red Cross
  • Maintain current ACLS certification
  • Maintain a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
  • Provide a current curriculum vitae including degrees earned, career history, awards and certifications, professional training attended in the past two years, professional organization affiliations, previous work references, and evidence of flight surgeon practice
  • Submit copies of board certifications, Military Aerospace Medicine training or Board Certification letter and certificate, current unrestricted active medical license, malpractice claim history, BLS certification, and three letters of recommendation

Job Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited school of Medicine in the United States or District of Columbia
  • Board-certified in Aerospace Medicine or possess Basic Military Aerospace Medicine Certification
  • Board-certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Current CPR certification by American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
  • At least twenty-four months recent experience working in aerospace medicine
  • Evidence of active Flight Surgeon practice within three of the last five years
  • Ability to maintain professional communication and collaboration with clinical and command staff

Job Duties

  • Perform a full range of physicians and Flight Surgeon duties within clinical privileges granted by the Senior Medical Officer
  • Ensure the fitness for unrestricted worldwide duty of active duty personnel
  • Make appropriate referrals to specialists as required following existing policy and regulations
  • Diagnose and treat the sick and injured in accordance with acceptable professional standards
  • Treat eligible beneficiaries for chronic medical conditions
  • Prevent and control disease
  • Promote health and healthy lifestyles
  • Advise on hygiene, sanitation, and safety matters
  • Ensure personnel are physically and psychologically fit for duty
  • Maintain open and professional communication with members of the clinic and the command
